Beatrice Ransome (Bea)
Born on March 17, 1936, in Courtland, Alabama, Bea shares her birthday with St. Patrick’s Day, so she always has a reason to celebrate! Born at home with the help of a midwife, Bea always dreamed of leaving the rural South. Her wish came true when the family moved to Cleveland, Ohio, when she was about 14. At 19, she took a trip to California with a friend and never looked back. Her sister Mary joined her, and their father decided two daughters across the country were enough!
Out west, Bea and Mary did many things together, including buying homes in Las Vegas. Bea inherited her mother’s quiet disposition and strong character. She earned a degree in business administration and became an Administrator for the LA Unified School District. Bea also sold real estate and served in many capacities at her church, including as treasurer for many years.
Bea and her husband Shelbert (Ran) had two children, Gwendolyn and Shelbert Jr., three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
