Carrie Jimerson (Kim)
Born on January 12, 1948, in Courtland, Alabama, Kim is named after her grandmother. With a stern, no-nonsense personality, Kim was outspoken and often talked back to her father. She always knew what she wanted and was determined to get it, no matter the odds. At just five years old, she even pulled a rifle on her sister Sellie and her fiancé Lewis because Sellie was stealing her crush! Kim’s life narrative of breaking barriers and the importance of continuous learning set the stage for her life and modeled the way for others to follow.
Kim recounts her professional journey with pride. She started as a licensed practical nurse, earned her master’s degree in nursing, and eventually became a nurse practitioner, enabling her to diagnose and prescribe medicines despite societal constraints. She worked alongside her husband at their medical practice and later as the Head Nurse at the VA Hospital.
Now, Kim manages her son’s plastic surgery office in Atlanta, GA, and monitors the aftercare of patients. A fashionista, she enjoys traveling to places like Egypt, Thailand, and South Africa, and loves spending time with her grandchildren, sharing it all on social media.
Kim and her husband Andrew had four children: Aziza, Andrew, Mahogany, and Afrika; and 11 grandchildren.
