Mary Bunton

Mary was born on June 15, 1933, in the small town of Courtland, Alabama. After some years, in 1956, she made the significant decision to move to Los Angeles to join her sister, Beatrice, who had already settled in the city. During her time there, Mary continued her education at Trade Tech Community College, where she dedicated herself to her studies and earned an Associate of Arts degree in Accounting.

Throughout her life, Mary had a fulfilling and varied career journey, working diligently for the State of California, serving as an Office Manager for the YWCA, becoming an esteemed Real Estate Agent, and contributing as a Teacher's Assistant, in addition to taking on the important role of PTA President. Her true passion, however, was owning Ebony Stix, where she thrived as a personal shopper and a "Stylist" long before it became a fashionable trend. Family was always at the very heart of Mary’s life; despite living over 3,000 miles away from her roots, she maintained close and meaningful ties with her siblings, frequently embarking on long train journeys across the country to nurture and celebrate those cherished connections.
